4 Day Electric Guitar Workshop

If you have ever been interested in the process, techniques or technologies used to build an electric guitar this is a great opportunity to dive into the world of luthiery and get your hands dirty. This 4 day intensive workshop will have you complete a Bolt on Neck guitar over the course of a weekend (Friday-Monday, 8am - 4pm). We build the guitar from scratch, not a kit, and go through several basic and advance principles of woodworking, electronics, finishing and luthiery. We recommend starting with either a Telecaster or Stratocaster style guitar for those with limited woodworking experience. For those who are familiar with the building process, please inquire as to what options can be advanced upon. Below is a detailed overview of the 4 day process - big thanks to Doug for documenting the process!

All of the necessary tools, consumables and safety equipment will be provided by Vigilant Guitars. You will receive instruction and supervision from Trevor Woodland through the 4 days to ensure that all procedures are followed safely and that the guitar is completed to your satisfaction. Be aware that this project will use woodworking equipment that may cause severe injury if used improperly. As such, any previous woodworking experience will be an asset but not necessary. This is a very hands-on workshop so come prepared to work!

Due to the duration of the workshop, some custom features will be unavailable. The basic workshop starts at $1200CAD and will have you build an oil finished hardtail Strat or Tele using, Alder, Maple, Cherry or Mahogany with quality hardware from brands such as Gotoh, Stewart MacDonald, Jescar, CTS and Tusq.
