CNC Millwork

A CNC (computer numerical controlled) router is a tool which uses design software to take images and vector files and transfer them onto a physical medium using a plunge routing tool. Where a 3D printer uses resins to "build" a item, a CNC removes material and sculpts one medium into another form.

While carving a neck by hand with scrapers and rasps is very gratifying, there is no denying that a CNC machine can produce amazing results in a safe, repeatable and cost effective manner.

With our CNC we can:

  • Cut a custom inlay based from a picture, SVG or C2D file

  • Produce unique MDF template

  • Route cavities and chambers

  • Outline replacement neck blanks

  • Cut fret slots to a unique scale or multiscale

  • Mill entire bodies or necks near completion

  • Many, many more options...

Currently, we are capable of cutting:

  • Hardwood

  • Softwood

  • Copper

  • Brass

  • MDF

  • Plywood

  • Plastic

While we specialize in guitars here at Vigilant, we don't mind doing small personal projects. Feel free to contact us with any questions and we can provide you with a quote outlining an affordable rate and help you walk through the CNC process.
